Lab West was set up as Drew Horley’s private recording studio to work exclusively with artists on writing sessions, music composition and production.

 

With London city life being so hectic and fast past paced most of the time, Drew and his family decided to move to Somerset for a different pace of life. The studio does not run commercially but is open to those who wish to work with Drew Horley in a completely different environment.

 

Since 2021, Lab West has become a bit of a recording retreat for many artists wanting to escape city life to work on their music. So, if you’re an artist or a band looking for a country based recording studio to record your next project in, get in touch. There are plenty of places to stay in our village with only a short walk to the studio.

Lab West is follows a new way of working with an open-plan control room and recording space. This allows the producer and artist to interact in the same room which suits most modern producer/engineers who are multi-talented playing a multiple instruments.

Lab West can cater for small & large bands who wish to record simultaneously in the same room as well as a small film crew.

Producer Profile

Drew Horley

Drew has 30 years of experience in the music industry. Starting out as a bedroom DJ and Beat-maker Drew eventually went on to becoming a Mercury Music Prize nominee through his co/production efforts with the well-respected rapper and Hip Hop connoisseur Ty who sadly passed away in 2020. Drew is considered a well respected producer, engineer and gifted multi-instrumentalist and he’s also a good cook ;-).
